What is the Lab?
The Falling Walls Lab is a challenging, inspiring and interdisciplinary format for outstanding talents. It offers the opportunity to excellent academics and professionals to present their innovative ideas, research projects and social initiatives.
Each participant is asked to present his/her work in 3 minutes.
All disciplines are welcome: from agriculture, medicine, economics, engineering to the humanities.
A prestigious jury from science and business awards the best participants.
Falling Walls Lab Slovakia
In 2017 Falling Walls Lab came to Slovakia for the very first time, and successfully established its position among stakeholders from the field of research and innovation coming from academia and business. Therefore, Falling Walls Lab Slovakia will again take place in 2018.
The competition will take place on May 31, 2018, in Moyzes Hall.

International Labs and the Finale in Berlin
The first Falling Walls Lab took place in 2011 in Berlin one day prior to the Falling Walls Conference. Thanks to the huge success of the Falling Walls Lab 2011, the Falling Walls Foundation extended the format to a global scale in 2012. Since then, international Labs take place in different vibrant cities around the world throughout the year. So far, Falling Walls Labs have taken place in almost 50 countries. The Falling Walls Lab Finale is held each year in Berlin on 8 November. The Finale gathers 100 participants, among them all winners of the international Labs. Why you should be part of it
Being part of the Falling Walls Lab will inspire you and provide you with insights by other participants, decision makers of enterprises leading in innovation and distinguished representatives of scientific institutions.
The winner of every international Falling Walls Lab will be awarded a slot for the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin on 8 November 2018 and a ticket to the Falling Walls Conference on 9 November 2018. In total 100 applicants qualify for the Finale in Berlin. Each finalist will receive the opportunity to present their research work, initiative or business model within three minutes in front of a high-calibre jury from academia, research and business. The three winners receive a cash prize and give their talks again on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference on the next day.
A scholarship will be granted to all participants, covering accommodation from 8 to 9 November and the ticket for the Conference.
The Falling Walls Lab

The three winners will receive a cash prize and will get the opportunity to give their talk on the grand stage of the Falling Walls Conference on 9 November 2018 in front of 600 guests – among them institution leaders and decision makers and a worldwide audience via livestream. At the Conference, 20 top-class scientists from around the world present their breakthrough answering the question “Which are the next walls to fall?”.
