The Falling Walls Lab Bratislava 2026 brought together outstanding young researchers and innovators who presented groundbreaking ideas addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges. Following a series of compelling three-minute pitches, the jury selected three winners whose ideas demonstrated exceptional scientific potential, originality, and societal impact.
The first place was awarded to Daniel Truchan (Slovak Academy of Sciences) for Breaking the Wall of Nanoparticle Metabolomics, exploring new approaches to understanding the effects and interactions of nanoparticles in biological systems.
The second place went to Kiana Rostami (Comenius University Bratislava), who presented Breaking the Wall of Death and Accountability, addressing complex questions surrounding death, responsibility, and accountability.
The third place was awarded to Aleš Jandera (Technical University of Košice) for Breaking the Wall of AI Memory Limits, exploring ways to overcome current limitations in artificial intelligence memory.
The winner will represent Falling Walls Lab Bratislava at the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin, where they will have the opportunity to present their ideas on an international stage alongside other emerging researchers and innovators from around the world.

With research spanning nanoparticle science, accountability, and artificial intelligence, FWLS 2026 once again demonstrated the breadth and ambition of emerging research and innovation in Slovakia.
