FWLS 2023 has its winners!

The 2023 Lab brought together a diverse blend of scientific disciplines — from medicine to informatics — proving once again that breakthrough ideas know no boundaries. After a fast-paced round of 3-minute pitches, the jury selected the top three.

The first place was awarded to Kristína Macáková (Comenius University Bratislava) for Breaking the Wall of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her research explores new molecular mechanisms that could pave the way for innovative treatments.
The second place went to Jaroslav Valovčan (Comenius University Bratislava) for Breaking the Wall of Seismic Wave Modelling, presenting a sophisticated approach to better understanding how seismic waves move through the Earth.
The third place was awarded to Peter Anthony (Comenius University Bratislava) for Breaking the Wall of Malware Detection, showcasing an intelligent classifier that uses knowledge databases to identify malicious software.

The 2023 edition confirmed how powerful young scientific thinking can be when complex global challenges meet smart and elegant solutions.
